Every small town has its local characters. The seven men (pictured here in 1955) were long time residents of Grandy. It was taken on what was called "the sitters bench" in front of, what locals called, "the beer joint". Since the late 1960s, the beer joint has been renamed the Brass Rail.

The beer joint is now the Brass Rail. Fishermen and travelers from far and wide now know it for boaster chicken. People skip the fast food and stop in Grandy.
